Mordkaul

Deze Belgische bezetting deelt een gemeenschappelijke passie voor melodische Death Metal. Donker, agressief, een helse drive en brandende vocals kenmerken hun moordende stijl.
Het debuut album “Dress Code: Blood” (2021) is tot stand gebracht door een samenwerking van vakmensen met een palmares om U tegen te zeggen. Met Tommy Goffin, Tim Bekaert, Vincent Noben en Adrian Erlandsson kwamen (ex-)bandleden uit Hell City, Diablo Blvd, A Brand, At The Gates, Cradle of Filth en The Haunted samen. Het album werd gemixt door Dan Swano die al werkte met Opeth en Bloodband. Zo kunt ge wel eens een staaltje kwalitatief materiaal uitbrengen. De hoge standaard werd aangehouden want niet veel later voegde Jan Rammeloo van o.a. Bliksem, Furia en Your Highness zich bij de band.
Dat meerdere uitverkochte zalen volgden om het album te promoten, verbaast niemand. Als klap op de kruisraket eindigde de tour met een alom geprezen show op Alcatraz Festival Kortrijk.
Met “Feeding the Machine” als opvolger laat de band zich inspireren door een bredere arsenaal van kleppers zoals Morbid Angel, Death en Hypocrisy. De focus shift weg van de initieel vooral Zweedse death metal invloeden waardoor dit album nog dieper snijdt en harder knalt. Om dit tot zijn recht te laten komen werd het album in 2 delen gereleased. Voor het eerste deel werd de samenwerking met Dan Swano voortgezet. Het tweede deel werd geproduceerd in de legendarische Galaxy Studios waar In Flames, Manowar, Rammstein en andere toppers hun voorgingen. Het volledige album werd wereldwijd gedropt in september vorig jaar en komende mei presenteren ze het beste van hun palmares op de gewijde grond van het Fort.

The members of Mordkaul share a mutual passion for melodic Death Metal. A dark and evil mood, an infernal drive, and incendiary vocals is how they like to forge their killer songs.
Their debut, released in January (2021) named “Dress Code: Blood” was recorded with Tommy Goffin, Tim Bekaert, Vincent Noben and Adrian Erlandsson. With (ex-)bandmembers of Hell City, Diablo Blvd, A Brand, At The Gates, Cradle of Filth and The Haunted this is a collision of true professionalism. The album was mixed by Dan Swano who had already worked with Opeth and Bloodband. Not long after Jan Rammeloo know from Bliksem, Furia and Your Highness also joined the band.
After the release several sold out shows were played to promote the debut, ending in the summer of 2022 with a killer and critically acclaimed performance at Alcatraz Festival. After this Mordkaul went back to the studio to record a follow up: “Feeding The Machine”.
Where the debut was heavily inspired by iconic Swedish death metal from the 90’s, “Feeding the Machine” goes a step further. With wider influences of iconic 90’s death metal acts like Morbid Angel, Death and Hypocrisy, this one hits even harder. To get most out this production the album was recorded in two parts. For the first one the cooperation with Dan Swano was continued, the second part was recorded in the legendary Galaxy Studios where In Flames, Manowar and Rammstein preceded Mordkaul. The full album was released worldwide in September of 2024 and this May they present the best of both release at Antwerp Metal Fest.
